Even before you get to his musical career, Gary Dranow has an exciting and impressive resume. A young equestrian turned Motocross champion, a clothing line entrepreneur turned mortgage broker, a renowned ski instructor, and an academy founder. Gary Dranow has undoubtedly grabbed life with both hands and squeezed a lot out of it.
It is something that is reflected in his approach to music, too. He has been playing in bands since the age of 12, when The New Invaderz saw him first tread the boards. Since then, he has been on a long and exciting musical journey, leading to, most recently, the album Destiny Road, which includes, amongst other subjects, songs about his experiences with Bipolar 1 Disorder.
Musically, he runs across the sonic spectrum with a freedom that few other artists allow themselves, making styles and sounds as eclectic as southern blues and rootsy restraints, heavy metal onslaughts, and understated balladry totally his own.
His current EP, Never Give Up, sits more in the middle ground of his sonic adventures, the perfect place from which to appreciate the quality and accessibility of his songwriting. The title track neatly blends rock and roots, Jimi’s Song is a lush celebration of his iconic hero, and Shimmering is a song that ebbs and flows between pop and a hard place. It’s the tip of the iceberg regarding his back catalogue, metaphorically speaking, but it is also the perfect place to first dip your toes in Gary Dranow’s sonic waters.
Gary is one of those rare artists whose wide and varied back catalogue offers something for everyone. It is fair to say that there is an adventuring spirit within Gary Dranow that is persistently looking for new possibilities and undertaking fresh adventures. The same can be said for the Park City, Utah based artist’s music and a creative craving that explores, evolves and never stands still.
Born on March 10, 1954, in Santa Monica, Gary’s musical journey pretty much began the moment, at the age of 11, he heard “Crossroads” by Cream on the radio. It was an encounter that sparked a realization that he wanted to be a guitarist, that acknowledgement and intent further brought to life the following day with his mother taking him to the Ernie Ball guitar shop. Within a year he had started his first band, The New Invaderz, and his musical voyage, like his guitar collection from that first Fender Stratocaster, has continually grown and embraced a rich variety in its adventure.
As we said, his life around his perpetual passion for music has matched his musical career in diversity and adventurous spirit. Sport was another prominent part across his formative years and beyond with athletics and equestrian competitions evolving into Motocross with high success and subsequently skiing. With similar results, Gary made his potent mark racing and as an instructor before founding the Modern Ski Racing academy.
Similarly, his entrepreneurial prowess has been centered by instinctive enterprise, Gary notably founding Spoiled Brats of California, a garment manufacturing company, mortgage brokerage company First Manhattan Funding (FMF, Inc.), and developing and selling Cyborg Information Systems, a fully automated mortgage process software.
It has been a journey in life as rich as Gary’s music within acclaimed releases such as 2023 album, “Destiny Road”, a record themed by his experiences with Bipolar 1 Disorder, and his new EP teaser, “Never Give Up”. The latter keenly relishes the seeds of diversity within Gary’s American/blues rock rooted sound, his songs openly embracing a variety of alternative and rock flavors within heart bred contemplation.
As across a host of other projects and collaborations with musicians such as guitarist Chris Zoupa from Australian progressive metallers Teramaze in their new EDM project Astralix and Ukrainian singer-producer Klim Apalkov, Chris persistently pushes his boundaries and landscape of enterprise with “Never Give Up” for one, a highly rewarding adventure for creator and listener alike.

“Chris Zoupa” – Arrangements, Electric and Acoustic Guitar. Synth. Vocal Melodies, Harmonies, and Phrasing.
Chris is a full-time guitar instructor and is a partner with Gary Dranow in all his many projects, including their EDM project Astralix. He is also a member of the progressive rock group ‘Teramaze’ out of Australia.
“Jason Jones” – is a sound engineer with over two decades of experience as a producer, drums, vocals, and synthesizer.
Along with working with Gary and Chris on the ‘Never Give Up’ album 30 plus songs, he is the driving force behind the band Unite the Divide.
“Roman Burda” – Blues Harp’s and European manager.
Roman hails from Lviv, Ukraine, and he and Dranow take ‘Harp’ lessons from Grammy-nominated David Barrett, who introduced the two. Roman plays on Destiny Road (Remix), The Day I Was Born, and the upcoming Black Coal Lung.
“Klim Apalkov” – Lead vocals. Guitar, keyboards, and production
Apalkov from the Ukrainian group Midgard, introduced to Dranow by Burda, is working on and producing Destiny Road (Remix), where he also handles the lead vocals. They are also working on an all-Ukrainian album called Iron Man, mainly about Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and Democracy in their unprovoked war with Russia.

Our music is a reflection of our diverse influences and experiences. We strive to create songs that connect with our listeners deeply and emotionally. Our repertoire spans various musical styles from Blues and Blues Rock, Rock and Roll, Alternative and Indie Rock, Hard Rock, and Metal Genres.
**Our Achievements**
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of achieving some remarkable milestones. These include writing and releasing Destiny Road, a 14-song album about Dranow’s life experiences suffering from Bipolar 1 Disorder and the havoc it wreaked on his relationships until he was finally diagnosed and treated in 2003.
Gary has been interviewed twice on Park City TV and was in a news piece by David Horowitz about the 1980s roaring mortgage refi boom.
Dranow had one of the first automated mortgage websites in the late 1980s.
Dranow and his merry band are writing and producing about one new song a week, keeping them all exceptionally busy.
Dranow is now signing with HALE PROMOTIONS to get his songs on US Nationwide FM and SIRUS XM Radio.
He plans on touring in 2025.
Dranow has had over 2.4 million streams of his music on YouTube.
